Lake Austin Boat Rules Every Guest Should Know
A few simple rules keep every Lake Austin boat day safe and fun. Here's what to know before you go.
City and state rules
No glass. Glass containers aren't allowed on Austin's lakes.
Life jackets. Every person needs a properly fitting life jacket on board. Children under 13 must wear one while a boat under 26 feet is moving.
No bridge jumping. Jumping from any bridge, including the Pennybacker Bridge, is illegal in Austin.
No-wake zones. Some areas of Lake Austin are no-wake zones. Your captain knows them and slows down.
Boating while intoxicated is illegal for anyone driving a boat. That's why every trip includes a sober, licensed captain.
Our onboard rules
BYOB, 21 and over. Adults 21+ may bring their own drinks in cans or plastic.
No red wine. It stains the boat.
Listen to your captain. They make the call on swimming, anchoring and weather.
Swim only when the boat is anchored and the engine is off.
Respect private property. No docking at or climbing onto private docks.
Weather
Trips run rain or shine. If your captain decides conditions are unsafe, such as lightning, the trip pauses or ends, and you get a full refund (or a refund for unused time if the trip has started).
Getting there
Every trip leaves from the Loop 360 Boat Ramp under the Pennybacker Bridge. Parking is limited and illegal parking is ticketed, so use rideshare.
