Bringing Your Dog on a Lake Austin Boat
Your dog has watched you leave for the lake long enough. Longhorn Leisure is pet friendly, and dogs of every size are welcome on both our pontoon and double decker.
What to pack for your dog
Dog booties. This is the big one. The Texas sun turns boat decks hot by midday. Protect those paws.
A dog life jacket, especially for weaker swimmers
A towel (or two). They will go in.
Fresh water and a bowl. Don't let them drink lake water.
Treats and a few poop bags
A leash for getting on and off the boat
Keeping your dog safe
Watch the heat. Plan morning or evening trips in summer, and give your dog shade.
Ease them in. Let nervous dogs settle before the boat moves.
Supervise swimming. Use the swim ladder or help them on and off.
Know their limits. Older dogs and flat-faced breeds can overheat quickly.
Best trips for dogs
Morning cruise on the Party Cove Pontoon before the heat
Evening [Sunset Cruise](@S), cooler and calmer
Big family day on the Double Decker
Good boat manners
Keep dogs off other people's floats unless invited.
Clean up after your pup.
Let your captain know you're bringing a dog when you book.
