Rain on Your Boat Day? How Our Weather Policy Works

1 min read

Central Texas weather can change fast, especially in spring. Here's exactly what happens if the weather turns on your boat day.

Rain or shine

Our trips are rain or shine. Light rain is part of lake life, and it often passes quickly. There's shade on every boat, and plenty of groups have a great time in a passing shower.

Lightning and unsafe weather

Safety always comes first. Your captain watches conditions closely:

  • If lightning is forecast or detected within 10 miles, the trip pauses.

  • The trip resumes once 20 minutes pass without lightning in the area.

  • If lightning continues for about an hour or conditions are unsafe, the trip is canceled.

Refunds for weather

  • If your captain cancels for unsafe weather (such as lightning or hail), you get a full refund.

  • If weather moves in after the trip starts, you're refunded for the time you didn't get on the water.

Cancellations for other reasons

Our standard cancellation policy applies when you cancel for non-weather reasons. Full details are on our FAQ page.

Tips for iffy forecasts

  • Check the forecast the night before and the morning of.

  • Bring a light rain jacket.

  • Call or text 512-630-2338 if you have questions about conditions.
